Business Spotlight: Denver Community Credit Union
Mile High Business Alliance member Denver Community Credit Union has provided financial services to Denver since 1934.

Credit unions have statistically better rates and fewer fees. However, only a select group of people may use a credit union. For example, only residents of Denver County, or those who work, worship, or volunteer in Denver County, may have an account at Denver Community Credit Union. Because they represent the interests of the residents of Denver ONLY, every one of their policies directly reflects the values of the Denver Community.
Conversely, a large national bank located in Denver is obligated not to its community, but to stockholders, who may live anywhere in the world. One other difference is that Denver Community Credit Union reports to the people who have accounts with them, not to the people who profit off of those accounts. Every single person that has an account at Denver Community Credit Union, from the smallest account to the largest, is an owner of the credit union. Denver Community Credit Union has no incentive to profit by charging even one extra cent because they give it right back to their owners in the form of better rates, fewer fees, and better service. In fact, credit unions are not-for-profit institutions because they operate like cooperatives. Banks must make a profit from accounts to pay the people who own the bank.
Denver Community Credit Union doesn't want you to become a member because credit unions offer lower rates and fees (although statistically, they do) and they don't want you to become a member because credit unions are great for the community (although they are!); they want you to become a member because their owners get more money every time somebody new joins. Every new person with an account at Denver Community Credit Union is also an owner of Denver Community Credit Union and has an equal share, vote, and cut of the profits. Make every owner rich today...become the next one!
Mile High Business Alliance and Denver Community Credit Union proudly present the Bank Local First campaign, where all new members of the credit union (who mention Bank Local First) receive a free $20 gift card to awesome local businesses including the Tattered Cover Book Store, Littleman Ice Cream and more!
